Complacency

I realized this morning that my previous accomplishments will not sustain my recovery today.
"Recovery- a return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength"
Everyday is a new day… Tupac Shakur has a quote that says for, “ For every dark night, there’s a brighter day.” This shows me that during hard times a new day can represent a new beginning or a fresh start. This is an opportunity to do things different or leave the past behind us. I believe this is the same during good times. That a new day represents new beginnings or a fresh start to have a good day. What I did yesterday will not sustain me today. The past is behind me and it is up to me to get plugged in everyday to maintain my recovery. For me, this starts with early morning meditation and prayer. This brings awareness and a drive to continue to progress, as well as peace through unknown circumstances. It also motivates me to do good deeds if they present themselves and not justifying it because I did a good deed yesterday. Another good example for myself is to get some form of physical exercise daily instead of saying,” Well, I did a workout yesterday.” When I do these things, I am living for each day at a time. So, for today, I will try my best to not become complacent. I will do what’s good for me because I deserve it! (Psalm 37:4)
