Reconstruction
I realized early in recovery that I have a long road of reconstruction in front of me...
I knew nothing about how to build a house. So, I took advice from others that had built their life from the ground up.
This started with the foundation, which I found in spiritual principles so that I could maintain a secure identity...
I knew I had a lot to learn once I started building onto my foundation but I got started...
When things are new to me, I don’t always do them perfect but with the right guidance and support, people around me were able to spot my mistakes....
The hardest part was taking advice even when I still wanted to try things a different way but it definitely paid off....
I noticed that I was slowly acquiring the skills and tools I needed for each part of my reconstruction...
This made the process much easier which resulted in confidence, peace, and security...
So, as I continue my recovery, I have realized that there is always room to build and I will continue to set the bar higher to keep it fresh for me…
